Everyone’s “terrible twos” stage involved toys like dolls, cars, and Play-Doh because, you know, that’s just what every child that age is entertained by…or so you’d think. Two-year-old Jaxon Miller, though, is definitely not your average toddler. His favorite thing to play with is an Instant Pot.
His total fascination with the kitchen product stemmed from his parents always forgetting to remove it from its box and put it to use. “My husband and I were gifted an Instant Pot from his parents, and like so many other Instant Pot users, it sat in a box, not open for months,” his mother Kristyn Miller told The Kitchn.
When the day finally came that Miller decided to try out the cooking device (it was a Facebook Instant Pot Community Group that opened her eyes to a world of recipes she never knew she achieve otherwise), Jaxon immediately loved it. The beeping sounds and the shriek noise that the pressure release made was what first excited him. And once he started to play with it more, he would press the buttons and pretend like he was whippin’ something up.
So when his birthday came along, Miller knew she had to get a cake that looked like an Instant Pot…and she didn’t disappoint. Look at it! With the labeled buttons! And everything! Best mom ever award? I think yes! She even made sure the “timer” on the cake symbolized his age and the year. It’s unclear where exactly this Mom of the Year got the cake from, but, boy, did she nail it.
Can’t help when the craving strikes, you know? Chrissy Teigen’s mom not only gets that, but obliges her daughter’s late-night appetite, which apparently means cooking noodles in the middle of the night.
While speaking with US Weekly earlier this week, Vilailuck Teigen, also known as Pepper, told the mag, “[Chrissy] will wake me up an say, ‘Mom, make me noodles!’ At, like, 2 o’clock in the morning!” Though it may seem like, I don’t know, a major inconvenience, Pepper’s got no problem with it: “I don’t mind! I do it.”
“She’s always in the kitchen, she’s always cooking,” Chrissy said at an event in L.A. earlier this month. “One of the greatest things about it is she’s blessed us with Thai food on an all-day basis. Anything we want, she makes into this incredible creation, and no matter what we have in the fridge she makes it into something wonderful.”
Chrissy’s kids—she shares 3-year-old Luna and 1-year-old Miles with husband John Legend—are a big fan of Grandma’s cooking, too. “The kids like my famous fish with garlic and scalloped potatoes,” Pepper said. “And pad thai! I can do that three times a week and it’s always eaten up for lunch!”
Now we know where Chrissy gets her cooking skills.
We’ve been speculating for some time on the plant-based burger’s arrival at McDonald’s. When will it happen? Which meat route will they go? Could it possibly overthrow Burger King’s vegan Whopper? Well, folks, we might finally get those answers. The fast food giant is testing its new Beyond burger at 28 locations starting September 30.
According to the company, who announced the news on Twitter Thursday morning, McDonald’s locations in Southwestern Ontario will welcome the “PLT” burger—which means plant, lettuce, tomato, BTW.
“McDonald’s has a proud legacy of fun, delicious and craveable food—and now, we’re extending that to a test of a juicy, plant-based burger,” VP of global menu strategy Ann Wahlgren said in a statement. “We’ve been working on our recipe and now we’re ready to hear feedback from our customers.”
The vegan patty, which has no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, is being touted as a “‘open wide and sink your teeth into it’ sandwich.” The PLT is available for $6.49 CAD and is part of a 12-week trial run.
“During this test, we’re excited to hear what customers love about the P.L.T. to help our global markets better understand what’s best for their customers,” Wahlgren continued. “This test allows us to learn more about real-world implications of serving the P.L.T., including customer demand and impact on restaurant operations.
Technically, this isn’t Micky D’s first go-around with plant-based patties. In May, we caught wind of the chain’s “Big Vegan Burger TS,” which launched exclusively in Germany. Now it’s only gotta be a matter of time before the U.S. gets a meat-free Big Mac!
Star Wars fans may find themselves peering up at the sky for the next few weeks—if you spot a certain Millennium Falcon-wrapped plane, it could mean a free, seven-night trip to Disney World. Not a bad prize for taking a photo of a plane!
Virgin Atlantic, the same company behind the upcoming kids-free cruise line Virgin Voyages, just unveiled a special Boeing 747 that’s normal Virgin Atlantic logo has been temporarily removed to make room for a photo of the Millennium Falcon and Walt Disney World/Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge logos. The plane, fittingly, flies between London Gatwick and Orlando International Airport.
Walt Disney World and Virgin Holidays are selling tickets to an “Ultimate Virgin Holidays Star Wars Experience” taking place from February 15 to 22, 2020. It includes round-trip flights on the decorated plane, Disney Park tickets, accommodations at your choice of three resorts, and a dining plan, plus extra perks like early access to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park area, a themed dinner with character experiences, and a dedicated area to watch the night-time spectacular show at Epcot’s dessert party. Overall, it sounds like a pretty baller way to experience Disney’s newest park from start to finish.
Whether your idea of cooking is hosting a multi-course dinner or reheating last night’s takeout, you should have some quality cookware lurking in your kitchen cabinets. Cast-iron is the best for heat-retention to cook your ingredients evenly and even make them taste better without leaving residue caked onto the pan’s surface.
Le Creuset has been the gold standard of cookware since they released their cast-iron cocotte in 1925, though the brand’s premium, porcelain-enameled cast-iron usually comes with a price heftier than the pans themselves. However, right now, Amazon is offering significant price cuts on some of its iconic pieces.
While Le Creuset is especially known for its cast-iron dutch oven, the brand has plenty of great options available at a discount. Whether you want to brew a pot of tea, make a creamy casserole, or whipping up some scrambled eggs, Le Creuset will allow you to serve up anything from the basics to homemade recipes with a little more expertise.
It’s not every day we see Le Creuset on sale, so we’re sharing some of our favorite deals to help you overhaul your kitchen cookware.
There are a few themes you’ll see on Chrissy Teigen‘s social media feeds. You’ll see the model, TV host, and cookbook author ribbing her husband John Legend, gushing over her adorable kids, and sharing every step as she tests recipes for her best-selling cookbooks. It takes about two seconds of watching one of those Insta stories before you want to try one of her dishes yourself. But where to begin? Here are a few of our favorites.¨
This grilled cheese spin is exactly why we love Chrissy. The concept couldn’t be easier: just press some sliced jalapeños and Parmesan cheese into the sides of buttered bread before grilling the sandwich. Takes ten seconds, but your meal will be cooler-looking and better-tasting when you make the switch.
I know the phrase THIS IS NOT A DRILL is kind of tired these days, and yet. THIS IS NOT A DRILL! The Super Bowl half-time show artist has been announced, and actually there are two of them: Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
The co-headliners dropped the news on social media, natch. About 30 minutes before the big news, Shakira tweeted out a photo of J.Lo from the lips down, wearing a Pepsi ring. You know it’s Jennifer because of the bicep (and the rumors that this was going down).
Get ready 02.02.20
Simultaneously, Jennifer posted a pic of Shakira. You know it’s her because of the abundant hair.
This is happening. 02.02.20
Then, they finally just let fans have it by posting a super glam photo together, with faces and everything. The two Latina pop stars, true pioneers since they smashed onto the scene two decades ago, will take the stage on February 2, 2020 (or 02-02-2020, which is just plain cool).
“The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has become one of the most iconic and anticipated music performances of the year, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to the stage,” said Todd Kaplan, the vice president of marketing for Pepsi: “These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become, and we’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages.”
J.Lo is having a pretty great few months: She’s got Oscar buzz going for the movie Hustlers, in which she plays a scamming stripper who happens to also be a loving friend. She just turned 50, and she just got engaged to Alex Rodriguez. How does her career just get better and better?!
Super Bowl is already a pretty thrilling time for us at Delish—maybe you’ve seen our epic stadium made of food for a Super Bowl party, which you can recreate? Or the umpteen number of dips and dishes we have for the big night? Truly, the only thing that could improve this holiday for us is Jenny from the block and Shakira. Counting the days!

Cyclists can’t get enough of data – whether it’s our time up a favourite climb, top speed down a hill or the distance of an epic Sunday ride, we love to do a bit of number crunching.
A bike GPS computer is a great tool for recording all the important information so you can train smarter as well as finding your way around.
They pick up signals from constellations of satellites orbiting way out in space to work out your position on the planet and therefore the speed at which you are riding.
On top of that, models with ANT+ and Bluetooth capability allow you to connect a phone or sensors to record your pedalling rate, power output, or heart beats – great if your are working through a fitness training programme.
Some of our selected GPS units work with the popular fitness app Strava to offer Live Segments – a feature that can spice up solo rides by offering a virtual training partner for you to race on your favourite hills.
